Hockey will be played again this season.

The league and it’s Board of Governors met on Wednesday afternoon to decide on the future of the playoffs and voted unanimously to have the season continue.

The final will be played between the Estevan Bruins and Nipawin Hawks.

Hawks President Darren Opp says “Obviously everybody with the utmost respect towards Humboldt, would have sided whichever way the Humboldt Broncos decided, and that I truly believe. Hard topic to talk about, hard for everybody to voice their opinion, because at the end of the day it needed the blessing of the Humboldt Broncos regardless. There was no argument to be made for it, whatever their direction was given to the league, I believe is the way everybody was going to go.”

He says that both teams in one way will honour the Broncos.

Opp adds “the sound, the reaction out of the [Hawks], just being told that the season was going to continue put an exclamation point on how right of a decision that was. The whooping and hollering they were continuing was probably the most smiles I had seen out of that team since.”

The schedule for the Canalta Cup Finals is as follows:

Game 1: Sat 14, 7:30 PM in Nipawin
Game 2: Sun 15, 7:30 PM in Nipawin
