Rollover North Of Melfort   ( 5/8/2008 )


Melfort EMS and RCMP attended to a single vehicle rollover north of Melfort yesterday.

4 people were involved in the crash.

One 17 year old male was air lifted to Saskatoon Hospital in serious, but stable condition.

Two other 17 year olds were treated and released, while a 19 year old male remains in local hospital.

No word yet on the cause of the accident.


Concern Over Proposed Nulclear Plant In The Province   ( 5/8/2008 )


A leaked report suggesting a nuclear power plant be built on Diefenbaker Lake has sparked concerns among the Opposition New Democrats.

But Crown Corporations Minister Ken Cheveldayoff says no location has been ruled in or out.

Cheveldayoff calls the report preliminary and says he would want to see more comprehensive studies and proposals done by the private sector.

Deputy N-D-P leader Pat Atkinson notes that the lake provides domestic water supply for about 40 per cent of the province.


Relief Coming To Myanmar   ( 5/8/2008 )


The United Nations says it now has permission from Myanmar to send in relief planes.

The first flight landed a short time ago.

The devastated country's military rulers had been drawing international anger for blocking efforts to get emergency aid to victims of Saturday's cyclone.

People are fighting over food and drinking coconut milk for lack of water.

A U-S envoy says the death toll could climb to a staggering 100-thousand.
